shear shear

For shearing steel, aluminum, brass and copper sheets up to 10 feet long and thickness ranging from 24 gauge (~1/32") to 10 gauge (~1/8") thick, we use a mechanical shear. For stainless steel the capacity for thickness is reduced to 12 gauge (~7/64" ) thick. Shearing is the most efficient cutting process for straight line cuts for sheets and plates of all metal. Cutting curves and complex shapes are best reserved for plasma, laser or water jet cutting.
